Pokemon Deck Boxes For All

By Legendslugia251

Pokemon deck boxes are one of the items merchandise many TCG players in the states love to have and to store their decks in. While in America the past years during the EX series line we got deck boxes for pre-releases but the boxes themselves were not up to the standards of the Japanese ones in the players view. The first few which were Gengar, Zangoose and Blastoise looked alright but after just a few uses some of them started to loose their stickiness on the cover and were very easy to break in the long run.

The last deck box that America was suppose to get was the Latios and Latias one but due to the delay of shipment America never got them in time for the pre-release. Of course all deck boxes go through the wear and tear phrase depending how the player decides to keep them in.

Pokemon Collectors, Players, and in Between

By: Brian Hsieh

Pokemon cards can have meanings, depending on the person. If one collects cards as a hobby, pulling holographic cards or any card that completes their set is something to look forward to. To an avid gamer, pulling the best possible card to enhance their decks is vital.

Older sets are coveted among collectors. Not only does opening a booster pack from an older set bring back memories (for those who did collect at that time), it also brings rare, out of print cards that might suit a collector’s needs. Old sets mean nothing to a competitive player. Collectors are also more likely to purchase a booster box over single booster packs, as some wish to complete the actual set that the booster box is in.

Pokemon Lottery Shiny Version Promo Card Sets

By Tony Tanaka

Back in July, 2010, there was a very rare set of Shiny Ho-oh, Lugia, Entei, Suicune and Raikou Japanese Pokemon lottery promo cards released. From April, 2010 until June 30th, 2010, entries for this special lottery contest were accepted. Only Japanese residents were allowed to enter the lottery.

If you bought two packs of either Legends Heart Gold, Soul Silver, Revived Legends, or Lost Link during this time and cut out the bar codes from the two booster packs and sent it into the Pokemon lottery office in Tokyo, your name will be entered into a drawing for these beautiful card sets. The 5 cards were divided into two different sets. Set “A” featured Shiny Ho-oh and Lugia and set “B” featured Shiny Suicune, Raikou, and Entei.

Pokemon POP Cards Insider

By Leonie Herson

The POP cards, called Pokemon Organised Play, were sets of cards not able to be found in the main Pokemon card franchise. The English version of these cards had originated from Japanese promotional cards. The cards could usually be found being given away in 2 card booster packs within magazines, collector tins, value packs or at special events. This encouraged participation in the Pokemon card game.

There are nine POP series to date, with seventeen cards in each series. New series appear every six months as announced by Pokemon USA. Each series featured rare holographic cards and Pokemon EX. The chance of finding one of these cards was very low. POP cards are identified by the POP logo in the bottom right hand corner (a Pokeball) with its respective series number next to it. POP began distributing cards in September 2004, after the EX Fire red and Leaf green card series. It featured characters from the second and third generations. Is It Better To Collect Older Or Newer Pokemon Cards?

By Anonymous

There are many Pokemon card collectors out there. Some mostly collect the older kinds of cards like ones from base set or jungle. Some mostly collect the newer stuff like ones from Heart Gold Soul Silver or HS Triumphant. But there is a constant debate on which cards are better. The older cards or the newer ones? Which one are you for?

I collect Pokemon cards myself and I like both kinds of cards. But some just don’t agree. Base set and the other older sets contain the original 150 Pokemon. Such as Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur. Heart Gold and Soul Silver and the newer sets contain newer kinds of cards like primes, legends, and shinies. But today the older sets are the ones that are more expensive than the newer ones. Packs of base set and such cannot be found at stores anymore, that’s why they are more expensive. But some old school collectors don’t care about the price.

The Pokemon Economy

By Nora Berger

We all see it. Pokemon cards that are the most highly coveted cards for collectors. So why these cards? Why not, say, Nidoqueen (EX FireRed LeafGreen #9/112)? Nidoqueen is a rare holofoil card. No. There is something that churns the Pokemon card hysteria, other than whether a card is rare or uncommon or common. The cards that are frequently fussed over include but are not limited to:
-Lugia ex (EX Unseen Forces #105/115) HF
-Wailord ex (EX Sandstorm #100/100) HF
-Espeon Gold Star (POP 5 #16/17) HF
Charizard ex (EX FireRed LeafGreen #105/112) HF

Pokemon Call Of Legends?

Most of you have heard of the new pokemon trading card set named “Call of Legends.” This set has replaced primes and legends from the earlier sets with shinies. Shinies such as Palkia, Rayquaza, Lugia, Deoxys, Ho-Oh, and even the three legendary dogs. The shinies from these newer sets are a continuation to the older star cards. Unlike primes, these shinies are not allowed in the trading card game. Alike primes the appearance of these cards are similar, the border of a prime is holographic, same with the shinies.

This set is considered good for collectors but not so much TCG players. Some specific cards are very helpful such as lost world and lost remover which are some big deck cards for some players. This set contains 95 cards, which isn’t a big set compared to others. The cards in Call of Legends are very similar to the ones in earlier set such as HeartGold and SoulSilver and HS Undaunted.

Pokemon Black And White

By Anonymous

Everybody’s talking about the new pokemon game, “Black and White.” There is much hype about the new pokemon such as Zoroark, Reshiram, and Zekrom. But not everybody agrees with the newfangled creatures. Some say they’re poorly made, some say they are the best made generation. What do you think? Nintendo will be introducing a whopping 156 new pokemon! In the game you’ll be introduced to a new region call Unova. You also may know the starters of this game which are Tepig the firepig, Oshawott the water otter, and Snivy the grass snake. The new game will be announced in Early March.

Pokemon Call of Legends Pre-release

By: Brian Hsieh

Prereleases are a fun way to get booster packs and utilize the cards right away via a tournament. Standard stores that hold prereleases allow a person to open six booster packs to create a forty card deck. Players also receive a free gift for entering the prerelease. For the Call of Legends Prerelease, a Snorlax holo was given out along with a deck box. I went to a prerelease in Brooklyn, NY with my friend. I went 3-2 while he went 2-3.

When we arrived, we were given POP IDs during registration. Afterwards, we went upstairs to sit and wait for our booster packs. We were given six Call of Legends booster packs to open. The ratio for this set isn’t as great as previous sets, as my friend and I failed to pull a shiny card, which are the ultra-rares for this set. The main cards I pulled were Feraligatr, Skarmory, and Tyrogue rares. My friend pulled a Gyarados holo and Ampharos rare that he used in his deck. Although these cards aren’t top tier deck cards, they had to suffice when there aren’t that many top tier cards within the set.

Pokemon Booster Packs vs Card Store Websites

By Brian Hsieh

Booster packs are a common way to obtain cards. For around the $4.00 mark, booster packs strengthen one’s collection by adding a set of random cards that one pulls after the purchase. But many websites have been established that sell singles of the card at decent prices. Their philosophy is that you can get what you want without spending more money on a Pokemon booster pack and possibly being disappointed. Take ultra-rare cards; they can be obtained in booster packs but with a low ratio of them being pulled. Even if you actually pull an ultra-rare card, it might not be the one you’re looking for. With card store websites, the hassle of buying many packs just to be possibly disappointed is thrown away. For a fee similar to two to three booster packs, one can obtain an ultra-rare card. For a smaller fee, one can obtain rares, holographic cards, and many others to complete their collection.
