A Teenager’s View on EV Training

By Matt

Today’s topic discusses EV Training, which is another way to make your Pokemon stronger in one (or more than one) particular stat. EV stands for Effort Value(s), which are given out every time you can fall either an enemy or a wild Pokemon with one of your own. Effort Values, or EV Points, are given based on what stat the Pokemon is strongest at. They are also given in small increments, so you will have to encounter that same Pokemon again to find an increase in EV.

For example, Geodude have a very strong base stat in Defense, which is what their EV is: 1 point in Defense. When you defeat a Pokemon, you will get their EVs, and store them up until the next level up (there is no point in EV training if you are at level 100). Serebii (which I use all the time, as you may have noticed) says that in order to gain 1 extra EV in a certain stat, you have to defeat four of the same Pokemon.

All About Blitzle And Zebstrika

By Emily

Being strong, fast electric types, Blitzle and Zebstrika are two top-notch Pokemon from the Unova region. Their stats and attacks give players at any level in the game a speedy edge, and the best part of these two is their relative commonness. Not to mention some recent merchandise. Zebstrika’s two best attributes are its Attack and Speed, which should be used to their full potential. With most of its moves being physical it has no problem dishing out some real damage.

With Flame Charge, it has a type advantage over many more Pokemon with the added bonus of a speed boost every time it uses the attack. Wild Charge and Thrash are two of the best attacks for this character, thanks to their high base power and Wild Charge’s Same Type Attack Bonus. Even though Thrash will eventually confuse Zebstrika, it allows the Pokemon to get some damage in for multiple turns. The recoil with Wild Charge may make it seem like a double-edge sword, it will allow Zebstrika to take down many of its opponents at a small price.

How To Get Zoroark Using The Crowned Beasts

How to get Zoroark using the Crowned Beasts

The wait is over and Pokemon Black & White is now keeping you from sleeping at night. Though the excitement associated with a new Pokemon game is all I can think about, I can’t help but notice all the people that are infuriated and let-down by Pokemon Black & White. All over the internet people are fuming that, “they can’t get their Zoroark” or “Nintendo gave them a defective Event Pokemon”. Well, to those who are having trouble getting their awesome Zoroark, don’t throw your new game to the Pidgies just yet!

Post-Game Shenanigans in Pokemon Black

By Emily

Once you finish the game’s main storyline, you are left to do pretty much anything you want in the game. But therein lies the problem – what do you do first? There are so many legendary Pokemon left to capture, an incredible number of Pokemon to catch and evolve to complete the Pokedex, and enough strong trainers to level up a team in no time.

First on the agenda should be a stop off at the Pokemon Transfer Center on Route 15. It’s easy to reach from Nimbasa City, and you won’t have to face any particularly strong trainers, which is helpful if your Pokemon aren’t at very high levels. Now that Pokemon from the fourth generation games can be transferred, you can load your game with rare and strong characters from the previous generation of games. Since a whopping 24 boxes are available in the game, using Black as a Poke-storage system is possible, especially if you have a large collection. Despite the usefulness of the Transfer Machine, it requires two DS’s, which some people do not have.

A Teenager’s View On Snivy (Tsutarja)

By Matt

We begin with the fifth generation of Pokemon with three new starters: Snivy, the Grass-type, Tepig, the Fire-type, and Oshawott, the Water-type. Usually, my favorites are the Fire-type starters (Charmander,Cyndaquil, and Torchic), but Sinnoh and Unova have the Grass starters that get my attention: Turtwig and Snivy.

When you first start out in Pokemon Black and White, you will receive a box of starters from Professor Juniper. If you picked Snivy, your friend Bianca will pick Oshawott, and Cheren (the friend youwill battle more often) will get Tepig. I assume that if you pick another starter, Bianca will pick the one weak against it, and Cheren, the one strong against it.

A Teenager’s View On Furret

By Matt

The first time I came across a Furret was when I was playing Pokemon Coliseum for the GameCube. It looked like some sort of raccoon when I spotted it, but I thought it looked pretty fly. Furret is classified as a Long Body Pokemon, and is a Normal-type. Since its name gave me a hint, I thought it would be a Ferret Pokemon. I traded this to my Leaf Green Version and was able to breed it with a Ditto. I also added it to my team in Soul Silver, and was able to beat the Elite Four using some of its moves. Furret is just one of those Pokemon you can’t dislike.

A Teenager’s View On Buizel

By Matt

Today’s Pokemon of the day is… Buizel! Buizel has actually been one of my favorites for quite some time. The first time I saw a Buizel was when I happened to be channel surfing. An episode of Pokemon was showing, so I decided to watch it. The episode goes like this: a Buizel is stealing random stuff (I think it was fishing rods) from the people, causing Ash and Dawn, the Sinnoh heroes, to go after it. They finally catch up to it near a waterfall and find out that it is training, for no clear reason. Dawn sends her Piplup to go capture it, expecting Buizel to be a weak target. Buizel proves a tough adversary and avoids most of Piplup’s attacks. Dawn orders Piplup to use either Whirlpool or Brine, which weakens Buizel enough for her to capture it.

All About Pokemon Mienfoo And Mienshao

By Emily

Many new Fighting-type Pokemon have been introduced with the newest generation of Pokemon, half of which have a secondary typing. Of those pure Fighting-types left, Mienfoo and Mienshao are the most unusual and strategic characters. High attack and speed, coupled with an extremely useful ability and moves, make them useful as long as they aren’t hit by too many attacks.

The Regenerator ability is one of the best abilities for this Pokemon since it can learn U-Turn during level up. With this ability, up to 1/3 of the full HP of the Pokemon can be regained when they switch out, and thus they can take advantage of U-Turn’s effect. Considering that the defenses and HP of both are low, this combination is almost a staple. Inner Focus is the other possible ability, but flinching does not happen enough, especially considering that Mienshao can outrun a majority of equally- and lower-leveled opponents.

How To Get Zorua Using The Event Celebi And The Relocator

How to get Zorua using Event Celebi and the Relocator

ZoruaZorua. Everybody’s favorite little Black & White teaser Pokemon. You’ve had him dangled in front of your face by Pokemon Sunday, and perhaps you even bough his Pokedoll at the 2011 US world Tour ( I know I did). Yet, you cannot seem to get him on your game; even after spending 30 minutes sitting in front of Gamestop trying to figure out how to get your event Celebi. Well don’t be frustrated, because I have provided a guide to demonstrate how to get Celebi to your new game using the Relocator, and meet your new foxy buddy.

What do I need to get Zorua?

1. Gamestop Celebi: You will need have grabbed a Celebi from a US Gamestop before March 10, 2011. If you did not receive your Celebi and would like to purchase one please scroll to the bottom of this article. It is unverified if another Celebi will work, please comment if you know more.
2. Two Nintendo DS systems: You are required to have 2 Nintendo DS systems are also required to complete the transfer; there is also no way to use Nintendo Wi-fi to do this. You will need two DS systems in close range of each other.
3. The Pokemon Relocator Confusion about obtaining Zorua has spawned from the odd fact that the player must use the Relocator, not the Poke-shifter, to activate the event. This is why when you use the Poke-shifter to try and send the event Pokemon to your game, it won’t work
