All About Axew, Fraxure, and Haxorus Pokemon

By Emily

Axew, Fraxure, and Haxorus are the first of two Dragon-type evolutionary sets in the fifth generation. All are pure Dragon type, and have a very high attack stat in comparison to their other stats. Axew also has a major role in the Pokemon Black and White anime. The two possible in-game abilities of these Pokemon are Rivalry or Mold Breaker, but if one is obtained through the Dream World, it will have the new ability Unnerve. With Unnerve, opponent Pokemon will not be able to use their berries in battle. This might prove useful if the opponent develops a status condition or is hit by a super-effective attack, as they will not be able to recover or reduce the damage they take. All About Zoroark And Zorua Pokemon

By Emily

Zorua and Zoroark are two of the newest Pokemon from generation five, and are an incredibly unique pair. From abilities to attacks, these two bring many new aspects to the Pokemon Black and White games. These two were the main stars of the movie Zoroark – Master of Illusions, which has already aired in Japan and the United States. They are the only new characters to fully appear in the movie. They were also the first Pokemon of the newest generation to be officially revealed.

Illusion, the ability of both Zorua and Zoroark, makes them look like the last Pokemon in your party. Their attacks and such stay the same, but their appearance completely changes. With some luck, this ability can be of immense help in a battle against an in-game trainer since they may choose an attack that is not effective against the Dark type. But once these two receive a lot of damage, their Illusion ability will not work, so using them when they are at full health is the best idea. Continue reading “All About Zoroark And Zorua Pokemon”

Ruby And Sapphire Pokemon Game

By Anonymous

In Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire there are three starters. Torchic, Treeko, and Mudkip. I advise to go with either Torchic or Mudkip as it is hard to find a good fire and water Pokemon in Ruby or Sapphire until you get Groudon or Kyogre. Mudkip evolves into Marshtomp then into Swampert, Treeko evolves into Grovyle then into Sceptile, and Torchic evolves into Combusken then into Blaziken.

Torchic is a fire type starter Pokemon, or in Japanese it is known as Achamo. Its ability is Blaze, that is where it raises the power of Torchic’s Fire-type attacks by 1.5x while Torchic has less than 1/3 of its max HP (rounded down). It can learn moves as strong as flamethrower, firespin, and peck. Torchic evolves into Combusken at level 16 and then into Blaziken at level 36. Its weaknesses are water and ground Pokemon.

Pokemon Black And White

By Anonymous

Everybody’s talking about the new pokemon game, “Black and White.” There is much hype about the new pokemon such as Zoroark, Reshiram, and Zekrom. But not everybody agrees with the newfangled creatures. Some say they’re poorly made, some say they are the best made generation. What do you think? Nintendo will be introducing a whopping 156 new pokemon! In the game you’ll be introduced to a new region call Unova. You also may know the starters of this game which are Tepig the firepig, Oshawott the water otter, and Snivy the grass snake. The new game will be announced in Early March.

Third Generation Shiny Pokemon Review

By Emily

Of all the generations, the third has some of the best shiny Pokemon, and most of my personal favorites come from here. Both rare and common characters have had good luck with their shiny form colors, and one of the best was even turned into an event.

Milotic was given out as a shiny event in 2008 and 2009 during the yearly Video Game Championships. Japan had this event at the end of 2008 and it was only available to Platinum games. It was available in Europe and the United States during the first half of the year and was only available on certain days due to the dates of the tournaments. Its shiny form is a very nice change from regular, and the red and gold of the tail go together nicely.

Black And White Sampling Tour: International Centre

By Leo Du

On February 19, 2011, I attended Kid’s Fest at the International Centre.  There were demo versions of Pokemon Black and White being shown there which people can play.  Also, there were face painting stations and coloring stations.  The designs available at the face painting station were Victini and Pikachu.  I got a Victini on my face; I had to wait like 20 minutes for my turn.

Pokemon Starters

By Joey DiGiacomo

In the world of Pokemon there has to be new starters all the time. When you play Pokemon games, you will notice that you have to choose a starter every time. Everyone has their favorite starter set; I personally love the set you get in Pokemon Gold. Then you have your older starters, by that I mean Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charmander. Those were a great set of starters, but they are much better when they are evolved. As I have said I like the old Johto starters, because their evolved form is modern and powerful.

Another set of starters is Kanto that is as I have said the older set; this set is the oldest set. In all sets I have my recommended starters, but in this one I really can’t decide between Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur. Now when I first liked Pokemon I was a big fan of the Kanto and Johto starters, but my personal favorite set of starters is the Hoenn set.

Second Generation Shiny Pokemon Review

By Emily

Despite the second generation having the fewest Pokemon of any era past and present, it seems to have a lot of shiny Pokemon associated with it. With Gold and Silver being the first games to actually feature these unique Pokemon, it makes some sense for so many Pokemon from this era being turned into shiny events.

Events aside, many of the Pokemon are stuck with a combination of pink, purple, and blue for their shiny colors. Some Pokemon were lucky enough to have a rather good shiny form.

Starting with events, the first shiny Pokemon from this era is Pichu with the 12th movie. The Pikachu-Colored Pichu wasn’t there just for looks; the notched-ear Pichu from the movie could be obtained only if this event Pokemon was brought to the Ilex Shrine. In addition to the in-game event, the shiny Pichu also had an exclusive attack, Endeavor, which made this Pokemon even more unusual. The gold color of this Pokemon is actually a very good choice since the red of its cheeks and black of its ears and tail have a much nicer contrast.

Pokemon 5th Generation: The New Generation as a Whole

By Nicholas Alves

As in every five years or so since its release, Pokemon has released another new generation.  As with all new generations we are brought a new Region, a new professor and a surplus of never before seen Pokemon.  As the fifth generation is brought upon us we find the new region is known as Unova and there are 156 never before seen Pokemon. As for the professor we are brought the first women professor known as Professor Juniper. Unlike in most previous generations, none of the Pokemon from any other generation will evolve from or into any of the fifth generation Pokemon.  We are also brought the normal fire, water and grass starters. The Pokemon go by the name of Snivy (grass) Tepig (fire) Oshawott (water). The Fifth generation has also brought us a brand new breed of criminal, Team Plasma! This team maybe more devious then Team Rocket themselves, they want to separate the world of Pokemon and Humans alike. The Region of Unova has several similarities and is most likely based on New York City.

Last Minute Event Rush

By Emily

With less than a month to go before Pokemon Black and White is available all over the world, a lot of important Pokemon events are being distributed in a very short time frame. At least one regular year’s worth of events have been crammed into only about two months, and in even less time for some countries.

Almost all of the events currently being distributed are important for getting exclusive Pokemon in Black and White. The shiny Suicune, Entei, and Raikou are necessary for being able to battle Zoroark in Illusion Forest. In the United States these event Pokemon were available at Gamestop stores across the nation. For European countries these Pokemon are being distributed one at a time over Wi-Fi and have a very short distribution time of one week per Pokemon. Since the European versions of the event are available over Wi-Fi, it gives people in the United States a second opportunity to get the events if they missed the Gamestop distributions. While we have the ability to download all three, when these events were available in Japan only one Pokemon could be obtained at a time because each Pokemon required a pre-order ticket to receive.
