Pokemon Gender Differences

By Matt

When you played the first few games, there really wasn’t a thing such as gender difference, where one gender of the Pokemon will look slightly different than the other. This new aspect debuted with the Sinnoh Region (Generation IV), in the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl games. Each gender has its own marks, but this is not true for every Pokemon. The entire list can be found at
http://www.serebii.net/blackwhite genderdifference.shtml.

When certain Pokemon are found to have gender differences, it is most likely that their evolved forms have gender differences as well. They are not too easy to notice; one must have a very observant eye to note these. If you come  across them, both genders can be recorded in your Pokedex.

Pokemon Favorites, Then and Now

By Rika24

Does anyone remember their first favorite Pokemon, and is it still your favorite? I remember that when I first watched it, Pikachu was my favorite. I still like Pikachu, but he’s nowhere near my top 10 favorites anymore. Pikachu was first knocked out of the number one spot by Charmander, then Eevee, then Charizard. As it stands now, Charizard (tied with Charmander), Jolteon, and Ninetales are my top three favorites.

I remember feeling so bad for the Charmander that was abandoned by his trainer, yet he still waited in the rain. I guess it’s the loyalty and cuteness of Charmander that made him my favorite, beating Pikachu for the top spot. Charmander is still to this day my number one favorite starter. When Charmander evolved into Charmeleon I wasn’t too happy because of how he wouldn’t listen to Ash.

Pokemon Gold Star Cards

By Anonymous

Pokemon gold stars are the card versions of shiny Pokemon. On gold star cards at the end of each card name there will be a gold star; hence the name gold star cards. There are 27 star cards. The star cards are only made of specific Pokemon. The gold stars are of Kyogre, Alakazam, Mewtwo, Mew, Espeon, Entei, Suicune, Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Charizard, Umbreon, Raikou, Metagross, Rayquaza, Celebi, Groudon, Jolteon, Flareon, Latias, Latios, Gyarados, Vaporeon, Torchic, Mudkip, and Treeko.

Completing the gold star set is like completing any other TCG set but much more difficult. There is very few people who have completed this set. The gold star Pokemon are just shiny Pokemon converted into cards. Like shiny Pokemon the coloration of the Pokemon is different. There might be a big difference or sometimes you can barely notice the difference. Like Rayquaza gold star the coloration of the Rayquaza is black instead of green. Gold stars are extremely hard to get. They are only available in some sets. Like Pikachu star in Holon Phantoms, or Mew and Charizard star in EX Dragon Frontiers, or Celebi and Alakazam in Ex Crystal Guardians.

Best Wishes Episode 006 Review

By Trainer_Auro

Last episode, we left off in the middle of Ash’s first gym battle against the triplet gym leaders. He won the first round against Chili, but lost the second to Cress, meaning that his victory lies on Oshawott, the water type beating Pansage, the Grass type. Although with the last episode ending when Pansage fires off a Solarbeam, it doesn’t look too good for the poor otter. Introductions aside, it’s time for a play-by-play review.

Warning, the following WILL contain spoilers.

I recommend you watch this series on your own, but if you’re in a hurry, want another opinion, or just don’t feel like watching, this will be quick, and to the point without losing the details.

Ash’s Traveling Companions

By Jo

The Pokemon anime has been centered around Ash Ketchum from the very beginning. In his quest to become a Pokemon Master, he and his beloved Pikachu have traveled to many different regions and befriended trainers of all sorts. Though some of those trainers have been affected by Ash more than others, even to the point of where they’d decided to go off on their own adventures with him. They’ve stood by his side, aiding him in times of distress and have added to the plot of the show. Without them, the anime probably wouldn’t be where it is today – on its 14th season. Pokemon Center Fukuoka Grand Re-Opening Merchandise

By Brian Grabow

The Pokemon Center in Fukuoka, Japan has just moved to a new location. The Grand Re-Opening is on March 3rd, but I managed to get a pre-opening invitation, so I was able to get the new Pokemon items a day early. This promotion was very similar to the Osaka one last year. There was plushies, a pin badge, keychain, clear folder a pillow and some large size stickers. I was kind of disappointed that there was no charms, but the plushies are very cool, so it made up for it. Continue reading “Pokemon Center Fukuoka Grand Re-Opening Merchandise”

Charmander is a fire type starter Pokemon, known as the lizard Pokemon, and known as Hitokage in Japan. It knows strong moves like dragon rage, and flamethrower. It can evolve into Charmeleon at level 16, and then into Charizard at level 36. In the anime, Ash caught a Charmander when it was abandoned by its trainer. When it evolved into Charmeleon, it started to disobey his orders, and continued to do so when it evolved into Charizard. It wasn’t till during his adventures in the Orange Islands when Ash gained Charizards trust, and became one of Ash’s loyal Pokemon he can trust.

Second Generation Shiny Pokemon Review

By Emily

Despite the second generation having the fewest Pokemon of any era past and present, it seems to have a lot of shiny Pokemon associated with it. With Gold and Silver being the first games to actually feature these unique Pokemon, it makes some sense for so many Pokemon from this era being turned into shiny events.

Events aside, many of the Pokemon are stuck with a combination of pink, purple, and blue for their shiny colors. Some Pokemon were lucky enough to have a rather good shiny form.

Starting with events, the first shiny Pokemon from this era is Pichu with the 12th movie. The Pikachu-Colored Pichu wasn’t there just for looks; the notched-ear Pichu from the movie could be obtained only if this event Pokemon was brought to the Ilex Shrine. In addition to the in-game event, the shiny Pichu also had an exclusive attack, Endeavor, which made this Pokemon even more unusual. The gold color of this Pokemon is actually a very good choice since the red of its cheeks and black of its ears and tail have a much nicer contrast.
