Take Your Pick Of Pokemon Starters

By UR2L8

For more than a decade now, trainers across the globe have explored various regions, thwarted villainous organizations, and befriended a multitude of different creatures – Pokemon. It is through the bond trainers share with Pokemon that make such extraordinary adventures possible. In 2011, there are nearly 650 different species, and with each trainer carrying six at a time, the differences between even two could be as apparent as night and day. Despite the major differences, there will always be a point where all trainers stand on even ground. It’s a question that’s presented with the dawn of each generation: “Who will your starter Pokemon be?” The question doesn’t have a right or wrong answer, each starter is strong against one, weak against the other, and so all trainers are placed on level footing, with a decision that may be the root of their differences from then on.

Best Wishes Episode 006 Review

By Trainer_Auro

Last episode, we left off in the middle of Ash’s first gym battle against the triplet gym leaders. He won the first round against Chili, but lost the second to Cress, meaning that his victory lies on Oshawott, the water type beating Pansage, the Grass type. Although with the last episode ending when Pansage fires off a Solarbeam, it doesn’t look too good for the poor otter. Introductions aside, it’s time for a play-by-play review.

Warning, the following WILL contain spoilers.

I recommend you watch this series on your own, but if you’re in a hurry, want another opinion, or just don’t feel like watching, this will be quick, and to the point without losing the details.

Best Wishes Episode 005 Review

By Trainer_Auro

Two starters in a row. I think we can all tell what comes next! First the water typed Oshawott, and then the fire typed Tepig, all that’s left is the grass typed Snivy. But that’s something for another episode. Last time, Ash entered a town, thinking it was Striaton, only to find that it was actually the Gymless Accumula. This episode, we waste no time, and see that it is in fact Striaton he’s seeing. Looks like we’re in for a gym battle! Introductions aside, it’s time for a play-by-play review.

Warning, the following WILL contain spoilers.

My Favorite Starter Pokemon

By Anonymous

With the release of generation 5 I have one very important question for you, “which Pokemon starter is your favorite?’ While you ask yourself that question please allow me to give my input on which starters I think are the best ever. Just because I say starters Doesn’t mean their all in one generation. I mean a favorite grass starter, fire starter, and a water starter.

My favorite fire starter definitely has to be the new one, Tepig. Why you may ask? Well for one I think this starter is extremely unique. I mean look at it! It’s an awesome fire piggy. Not to mention its evolutions make me squeal every time I see it. If you still need other reasons here are more to think about. For one, Tepig gets a great evolutionary move set down the line if you train it properly. Not to mention the addition of and additional type which is Fight. Tepig can learn about all of the powerful fire moves and gets a special move for triple battles. So not only is this Pokemon extremely cute, It is well rounded, a great first pick for an adventure, and gains a sub type that makes up for its weaknesses.

Pokemon Best Wishes episode 004 Review

By Trainer_Auro

Three episodes; three Pokemon. At this rate, Ash’s party will be full in no time. Last time, he caught the adorable water type; Oshawott. Well, technically, he didn’t catch it. It was the Oshawott from Professor Juniper’s lab, which she told Ash to take care of after its escape. Watching Pikachu and Oshawott interact was amusing, but now we should get a better idea of Oshawott’s character. We start off this fourth episode with Ash approaching a city, excited for his first Gym battle.

Introductions aside, it’s time for a play-by-play review. Warning, the following WILL contain spoilers. I recommend you watch this series on your own, but if you’re in a hurry, want another opinion, or just don’t feel like watching, this will be quick, and to the point without losing the details.

Pokemon Best Wishes Episode 001 Review

By Trainer_Auro

After watching the hell out of the TV show as a kid, I’m excited about this new season. Since the games are supposed to be an all new experience, the anime decided to follow suit, and is having Ash (Satoshi) (depending on whether you’re watching it dubbed or subbed) start over with all new characters, and all new Pokemon. The difference between this and any other season (which seems to do roughly the same) is that you won’t be seeing any of the old Pokemon in this new region. While some things stay the same (such as the iconic Pikachu) some old traditions have been dropped, most notably Brock. He is nowhere to be found in this new series. While this is a disappointment to many fans, it’s a bit refreshing, to be rid of that long-running gag where he would hit on every woman in sight, trying to show them how he’s the world’s greatest “breeder.”

New Black & White Pokemon

By Joey DiGiacomo

The new Pokemon in this next generation are amazing. The starters have to be my favorite of all time. They are very crucial characters, because their evolved form is very powerful. The first starter is Snivy.  Snivy is a grass type Pokemon and he evolves into a determined and majestic Pokemon. Another great starter is Tepig that is like a pig type of Pokemon. He is a fire type pokemon, and his evolved form looks nothing like him. For some reason the evolution of Tepig reminds me of an egg. It is shaped very odd, but has good fire moves.

My personal favorite starter is Oshawatt, he is kind of like a gothic sea otter. He never smiles, but has amazing moves. He is a water type Pokemon, and his moves do not really revolve around that. His moves have the power of a common attack or scratch like the old generations. Overall the moves are pretty amazing, and do have room for improvement. His evolved form likeTepig, looks nothing like the pre-evolved form.

Pokemon In The Unova Region Part 1

By Amanda

Snivy, also known as Tsutarja in Japan, is one of the best grass starter Pokemon yet.  Not only does it know strong grass moves like leaf blade, leaf storm, but also some new attacks like grass mixer, and grass oath.  In its final evolution, it looks like a snake, loosing its limbs in each stage.  In the anima, Ash owns a female snivy, shown to be very powerful. Oshawott, also known as Mijumaru in Japan is a Water type Pokemon available in Black and White.  It’s known as a sea otter  that has a shell it can detach from its belly to use to attack or defend itself.  It has powerful attacks such as shell blade and aqua tail, and can learn the move water oath.  It also appears in the anima, being one of the Pokemon Ash caught in the Unova region.  Tepig, also known as Pokabu in Japan is a fire type.  Known as the pig Pokemon, it has strong fire types attacks like nitro charge and heat stamp.  It can also learn fire oath, an attack if combined with another oath attack can change the field.  It’s also one of Ash’s Pokemon he caught in the Unova region as well.

Pokemon Center Starter Evolution Plushies

By Sam Clements (Almiraswolf)

Its very rare that the Pokemon center or even Banpresto releases
plushies of all three of a starter Pokemon’s evolutions. Now we are at
generation 5 fans got a nice surprise when it was announced that
Tsutarja (Snivy), Pokabu (Tepig) and Mijumaru (Oshawott) would be
getting plushies of their evolutionary lines. These plush were
released in 2010, before Christmas about a month after each other.

Pokemon center’s own plush are not Tomy, Banpresto or Pokedoll. They
are a new series of plush dolls that are unique and like most
merchandise – will eventually sell out (generally items are simply
retired or a limited number of items are produced to being with –
which is why it is best to buy an item you want as soon as it is
released. When an item is no longer available its value increases and
it becomes harder to find). They are soft and made of “minky fabric”
the same material used on the Pokemon Pokedolls and recent Tomy plush
releases. Each plush is also in proportion to its middle and final
evolution plush; smallest to biggest (you can see this in the photo).
