Everywhere you see articles and charts etc, on what a Pokemon’s best nature would be, but what if your Pokemon doesn’t have that one specific nature then what? What are some other good natures for it? In article i shall be talking about other good natures, and sometimes bad ones, and some really good moves (or at least in my opinion) for each Pokemon to have. 🙂
Just keep in mind this isn’t 100% accurate because the most beneficial natures for a Pokemon to have can be highly dependent on what moves you teach it.
This time I’ll talk about Pikachu, Lucario, Scrafty, and Vaporeon. 🙂
Now let’s see, for Pikachu anything that would be lowering the speed stat might not be very good for the little fella since that’s Pikachu’s highest base stat, and defense is Pikachu’s lowest stat so you probably wouldn’t want a nature that lowers that either. If you teach your Pikachu all special attacks though, then obviously it’s physical attack stat isn’t needed and therefore would probably be best to have a nature that lowers Attack and raises Special Attack; a modest nature to be precise.
But if you’re like me and teaches your Pikachu a mix of special and physical attacks I’d say it would be best for your Pikachu to have a Neutral nature (just to prevent a few headaches and keep things simple), but it’s up to you and what you teach it. 🙂
And now for Lucario, I’d say anything that lowers his Special Attack isn’t good since that’s his best stat and tends to be used a lot. Especially with what I think is his signature move Aura Sphere.
Now you could teach your Lucario all physical moves, but i wouldn’t recommend doing that because a lot of the best moves Lucario can learn are special moves. Not to mention Special Attack is Lucario’s highest stat. I’d recommend teaching it a mix of physical and special moves; and at least 2 special moves when doing so. Unless you’re going for a status affecting move group. Which then at least 1 special move, and probably Aura Sphere since it gets that extra 1.5 damage bonus since it’s the same type as Lucario and it never misses. As for the best physical move to teach your Lucario, that would probably be Extreme Speed because it always goes first so it’s great when you need to the be the first attacker.
Now Scrafty! The pants lizard of the 5th generation! 😀
Scrafty is an awesome fighting type Pokemon because it’s probably the fighting type with the highest Defense and Special Defense, and part dark type so Psychic type moves; the type I think is most used against Fighting types, will have no effect on it. Also because of Scrafty’s high defenses flying type attacks; another super effective type against fighting types, wont do as much damage as they would on a normal fighting type either. So any nature that boosts Scrafty’s defenses would be quite beneficial for the pants lizard. 🙂
If any stat is lowered by a nature the best one to be lowered would be the Special Attack stat since it has a base of only 45. Scrafty is kind of slow too so it wouldn’t hurt Speed much either if that was lowered instead.
For this Pokemon you’re going to want to do a physical or status move set (NO special attacks!) because of Scrafty’s terrible Special Attack. If you can manage to teach it Drain Punch by breeding (the Scraggy from the egg would know the move then) do it, because it would be an awesome move for any Scrafty to have. But if you can’t, Brick Break is a fine replacement and is learned at level 20. I would also recommend you teach your Scrafty Crunch as it’s dark type move (which is learned at level 38). For the third attack you can teach it Scary Face which harshly lowers the opponent’s speed to make up for the pants lizard’s lack of speed. Then for the last attack slot you can teach Scrafty a rock type move to easily get rid of those pesky flying types with a TM like Rock Slide, Smack Down, or Stone Edge. You could also wait until level 65 when it learns Head Smash, but that attack has bad recoil damage so it might not be the best idea.
Another good move combo for Scrafty to fill up the last two move slots would be Focus Punch and Substitute.
Finally Vaporeon one of my favorite eeveelutions (my other being Umbreon). 🙂
I highly recommend making sure your Vaporeon has a Special Attack boosting nature. First of all because it’s Vaporeon’s second highest stat (first being HP), and second of all you can teach Vaporeon some awesome attacks if you have the right TM/HMs, and third if you’re patient enough to train it to level 57 when it’s an Eevee, it can learn a really unique move called Trump Card, which is a move that does more damage the fewer PP it has (it starts at a power level of 40 with 5 PP and at 1 PP it has a base power level of 190!). Few Pokemon can learn this move, and since it’s a special attack it can go very well with the rest of Vaporeon’s attacks.
Since Vaporeon doesn’t learn many wow-worthy moves when leveling up you’re probably going to want to teach it some attacks using TMs. What I like to do is teach my Vaporeon is Surf, Ice Beam, Shadow Ball, and then the fourth attack varies from time to time. (since I’m usually too impatient to train my Eevee to level 57 without evolving it first. ^^; ) Now with those attacks a Vaporeon is one of the best water Pokemon there is. ; )
