The starters for the Pokemon Gold and Silver gameboy advance game are Totodile, Cyndaquil, and Chikorita. Totodile is the water type starter. Cyndaquil is the fire type starter. Chikorita is the grass type starter. Totodile (Waninoko) is the water type starter, it evolves into Croconaw, then into Feraligatr. Totodile evolves into Croconaw at level eighteen and then into Feraligatr at level thirty six. Totodile is known as the “Big Jaw Pokemon.” Like most water type starters its ability is called Torrent which is when a Pokemon with Torrent uses a Water type move, the power will increase by 1.5× if the user has less than or equal to ⅓ of its maximum HP remaining.
Totodile is number 007 in the Johto pokedex, in the Hoenn pokedex Totodile is number 313. Cyndaquil (Hinoarashi) is the fire type starter, it evolves into Quilava, then into Typhlosion. Cyndaquil evolves into Quilava at level eighteen and then it evolves into Typhlosion at level thirty six. Cyndaquil is known as the “Fire Mouse Pokemon.” Cyndaquil has the ability called Blaze. Blaze is when When a Pokemon with Blaze uses a Fire type move, the power will increase by 1.5× if the user has less than or equal to ⅓ of its maximum HP remaining.
Cyndaquil is number 004 in the Johto pokedex, in the Hoenn pokedex Cyndaquil is number 310. Chikorita (Chicorita) is the grass type starter, it evolves into Bayleef then into Meganium. Chikorita evolves into Bayleef at level eighteen and then it evolves into Meganium once you level it up to level thirty six. Chikorita is known as the “Leaf Pokemon.” Like all grass type starters in most games it has an ability called Overgrow. The ability Overgrow is when a Pokemon with Overgrow uses a Grass type move, the power will increase by 1.5× if the user has less than or equal to ⅓ of its maximum HP remaining.
Chikorita is number 001 in the Johto pokedex and number 307 in the Hoenn pokedex. As always I advise you to go with Totodile as it is the best water type in the game and when you get the hidden machine “Surf,” you will need a good water type to use that move competitively. So which ever starter you choose good luck!
