The Battle Club And Tepig’s Choice Summary And Review

By JC

Hey guys! I’m going to summarize and review the 4th episode of Pokemon Black and White. Ash and Iris are continuing on their journey to Striaton City, but make a stop at Accumula Town. Ash is disappointed because there isn’t a Pokemon gym there, but quickly cheers up when Iris tells him of the Pokemon Battle Club. Upon entering the gym, a battle between Servine and Dewott is underway. Servine is knocked out and that is when the owner, Don George, welcomes our heroes. Ash is challenged by the Dewott’s trainer, but they are unable to finish their match due to a break-in.

Don George and the others take a look at the security tapes, to find that a mysterious black and thin Pokemon and Team Rocket were in the storage. Everyone thinks that the mysterious Pokemon is an Umbreon, and they are excited to find it. Team Rocket eavesdrops and paints up Meowth to look like Umbreon to distract the Battle Club members. Meanwhile, Ash and Iris make a trail of Pokemon food to lure the mysterious culprit. Ash spots a Tepig and discovers that it is the mysterious Pokemon. While Ash is in pursuit of Tepig, Pikachu and Oshawott get into a small scuffle.

Ash finally catches up to Tepig and explains the story to everyone else. Things are finally going back to normal when Team Rocket is spotted stealing Ash’s Pikachu. Although Tepig was abandoned by his former trainer, he is determined to prove himself and saves Pikachu from the clutches of Team Rocket. The episode ends with Tepig joining Ash.

I’m really looking forward to the first gym battle now. I was hoping it would be this episode, but I guess I’ll have to wait longer. The new animation looks good. I can’t wait for a truly epic battle. I chuckled when Oshawott wanted to battle but backed out when he saw his evolution as the opponent. Dewott vs. Pikachu was nice but too short. I felt certain that Pikachu was going to knock himself out with the missed Volt Tackle, and even more certain when Dewott used Razor Shell, but nope. I know Pikachu can’t seem too strong or else the anime series would get stale, but in my opinion, he should have been able to take Dewott easily.

I knew the mysterious Pokemon was Tepig, but I enjoyed seeing the Pokedex information for Umbreon (Umbreon is one my favorites). The new Pokedex voice reminds me of a smooth operator (much more human than the first Pokedex voice). I enjoyed the chase scene with Meowth (Team Rocket did a really good job on Meowth). What happened to Tepig was sad, but it made for a great backstory. At first I thought maybe he used to belong to N or Trip, but I don’t think they would abandon a Pokemon (definitely not N, but maybe, just maybe Trip).

There was more mischief with Pikachu and Oshawott. It seems they are becoming close friends and get along with each other well. Team Rocket didn’t do anything too stupid this time as they quickly found Pikachu and tried to run away. I still don’t know what they were trying to fly away in. If you have ever played Trouble, the get-a-way saucer looked like the thing you push to get your number. I was in disbelief and incredulity. It was funny though. I’m glad Ash got Tepig, which means we should be expecting him to catch a Snivy as well. Episode 4 is very light-hearted and well-written.
