Pokemon Black & White, I had mixed feelings about the new game honestly. Most of the new generation 5 Pokemon were so strange and different! Then a certain purple kitty, by the name of Choroneko/Purrloin was revealed! I have always had a soft spot for the evolved cat forms, so my like for Choroneko came as a bit of a surprise. Don’t get me wrong, I have always liked Meowth, Skitty, and Glameow. I just like their evolved forms better for some reason!
Choroneko sealed the deal; though I do not really care for the American name, later
announced, of Purrloin! I was more excited for Pokemon Black & White to hit the US, but even more eager for merchandise of the devious little feline! While waiting excitedly for merchandise to start hitting the shelves, I went ahead and sculpted my own Choroneko. I even used a special paint that makes the eyes glow in the dark!
Then the Pokemon Center Choroneko Plush was announced, with a release date in late November of 2010. Just in time for the holidays!! I had to have it, but funds were lacking for various reasons. I figured to cut my losses and put the Choroneko plush out of sight and out of mind!
In mid-December, an unexpected package appeared in my mailbox. Puzzled, I opened the package without hesitation…Apparently, a very kind person on my friends list, over on Livejournal.com, bought me the Choroneko plush as a surprise Christmas present. I was so over joyed by this generous gift! Collecting Pokemon has really helped me to meet some kind and super people, from around the world, over the years!
Since getting my Choroneko plush, other items have been announced and slowly released. I just got my Kids Figure in the mail the other day, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the Chupa Surprise figure! I am really hoping for a Zukan to be released too! As much as I love Choroneko, I love the evolved form, Reparudasu/Liepard just as much! What would be fantastic is a Liepard plush! You know none of the evolved cats has an official plush! Persian came close and I have the prototype to prove it!
There is a new line of Pokemon plush that has been announced, as a matter of fact, the My Pokemon Collection series! Rumor has it, that they plan on making a plush of every generation 5 Pokemon! Does this mean that Liepard will be the first evolved cat to be honored with a plush? Let’s hope so…
To my surprise, Choroneko has not gotten that much merchandise, yet! The pre-evolved cat forms always get a decent chunk of merchandise! That is alright though; all good things come to those who wait…
