The Older Pokemon Vs. The New Pokemon

By

Hello Pokemon Fans! Today I would like to discuss generation one vs. generation five. Now in my opinion I think all Pokemon games are amazing I will admit that, but all the Pokemon…not so much. First let me say this in generation one the designs of the Pokemon were outstanding! Along with the naming and battle moves. For example I will use the three starter Pokemon: Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charmander. Now I loved fire Pokemon (along with dragons) so I chose Charmander. Now Charmander to me was a pretty sweet Pokemon due to the fact that he was almost unstoppable unless against a water type. To me his best move as we progressed was flamethrower. Then he evolved into Charmeleon! Now I was not a fan of Charmeleon but I must say he was stronger and learned even better moves.

Anyways moving on, I thought that the detail was a little bit lazy since all they did was buff Charmander up, add a horn to his head, and rename him Charmeleon. In the end though I was happy for the last evolution was Charizard. Now I was very impressed for I thought he would look like a dinosaur (T-Rex), but no I was wrong he was transformed into an orange dragon with wings. Not only was he just a fire type now but a flying type now too! I must say he was very powerful to so I applaud Game Freak and Nintendo.

Kanto Starters and Evolutions: The Charmander Line

By Jo

It’s orange, lizard-like, and obnoxiously cute! Charmander, the Lizard Pokemon, is the first fire-type in the National Pokedex and is also the Kanto region’s fire-type starter. Charmander is the tallest of all fire-type starters and a fan favorite for its evolutionary line. It also has the longest name of any unevolved Pokemon.

According to its pokedex entries, Charmander’s flame at the tip of its tail makes a slight crackling sound that can only be heard in quiet places. That flame is said to burn in reaction to its emotions; if it’s content its flame wavers, while that flame will burn brightly if it becomes enraged. Its pokédex entries also state that if the Charmander is healthy, it will burn vigorously even when becoming wet. It will die if the flame ever burns out, as the flame is a measure of its life force. Charmander is based off from a salamander, though it also has features of lizards too. Its name most likely comes from the words ‘char’, which means “to burn”, and ‘salamander’, an amphibian found in Japan (which is where the games are made). Charmander may also be inspired by fire-spirits who are said to be able to inhabit the hottest temperatures. Those fire-spirits are often depicted to be lizard-like.

Pokemon Favorites, Then and Now

By Rika24

Does anyone remember their first favorite Pokemon, and is it still your favorite? I remember that when I first watched it, Pikachu was my favorite. I still like Pikachu, but he’s nowhere near my top 10 favorites anymore. Pikachu was first knocked out of the number one spot by Charmander, then Eevee, then Charizard. As it stands now, Charizard (tied with Charmander), Jolteon, and Ninetales are my top three favorites.

I remember feeling so bad for the Charmander that was abandoned by his trainer, yet he still waited in the rain. I guess it’s the loyalty and cuteness of Charmander that made him my favorite, beating Pikachu for the top spot. Charmander is still to this day my number one favorite starter. When Charmander evolved into Charmeleon I wasn’t too happy because of how he wouldn’t listen to Ash.

Kanto Region Pokemon Part 1

By Amanda

Charmander is a fire type starter Pokemon, known as the lizard Pokemon, and known as Hitokage in Japan. It knows strong moves like dragon rage, and flamethrower. It can evolve into Charmeleon at level 16, and then into Charizard at level 36. In the anime, Ash caught a Charmander when it was abandoned by its trainer. When it evolved into Charmeleon, it started to disobey his orders, and continued to do so when it evolved into Charizard. It wasn’t till during his adventures in the Orange Islands when Ash gained Charizards trust, and became one of Ash’s loyal Pokemon he can trust.

Pokemon Starters

By Joey DiGiacomo

In the world of Pokemon there has to be new starters all the time. When you play Pokemon games, you will notice that you have to choose a starter every time. Everyone has their favorite starter set; I personally love the set you get in Pokemon Gold. Then you have your older starters, by that I mean Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charmander. Those were a great set of starters, but they are much better when they are evolved. As I have said I like the old Johto starters, because their evolved form is modern and powerful.

Another set of starters is Kanto that is as I have said the older set; this set is the oldest set. In all sets I have my recommended starters, but in this one I really can’t decide between Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur. Now when I first liked Pokemon I was a big fan of the Kanto and Johto starters, but my personal favorite set of starters is the Hoenn set.
