Pokemon Black And White Daily Events

By Matt

Every day, there are various events happening in the Pokemon World. Since time has been a factor in the Pokemon games (Generation IV), there are time-based events that have existed. Specifically, I will cover the Unova region. One of the first places I go to when I turn on the game is Undella Town. If you go north and go to the ocean, you can find a way to the left. There will be a person in a black suit who will give you a random item. Most of the time, it is either a hold item for evolution, or an item that can be sold to collectors for more money. Either way, the item will be beneficial to your journey as a Trainer. Another daily event that I used to go to was the fossil excavator in Twist Mountain.

To get to him, go west from Icirrus City. Take the exit to the south and go into the tunnel near the middle of the mountain. The excavator will be right in front of you. He gives you a random fossil, which could turn into any fossilized Pokemon through the fossil restorer in Nacrene City. The Pokemon are level 25 when you get them, but make sure you have an extra slot in your party.

One event I don’t go to, because it is out of the way, is the rock-giving person west of the Tubeline Bridge. For this, I believe you go west of the shopping mall in Route 9. Go through the Tubeline Bridge, and you will meet a Parasol Lady who will give you a random rock based on the time of day you go to her. These rocks extend the effects of weather, and function as a hold item.

Pokemon Egg Mechanics

By Matt

So, you want to learn more about Eggs? You’ve come to the right place. Although there’s not really too much an Egg can do, there are some important things that should be learned. First, a Pokemon that is the offspring of two different will be always female. However, if you want to take the safe way, breed with a Ditto, which will always give you the other one. Egg Moves, when breeding two different Pokemon, will be prevalent in the Pokemon. That means that the offspring will learn different moves, as long as it comes from the same egg group. Something that isn’t well known about Eggs is that they can hold items, but they will have no use, since Eggs can’t do anything. Eggs also have a chance of being shiny, but it is very rare; in fact, it is the same chance as encountering a wild shiny Pokemon.

The Day-Care Man can also tell you how fast the Eggs will be produced. The first stage is that they get along very well, which means that they produce Eggs at the optimal level. The second is that they get along, which is just as good as the first. Number three is that they do not get along very well; this happens if you try to breed Pokemon that you have got as a result of Eggs. But, this proves as a last resort if you don’t have that Pokemon you imported anymore.

The last stage is that they play with others, and that is what happens if you try to breed legends or Pokemon of different Egg groups. After your team is filled up with eggs, there’s a question of what to do. You can ride the Bicycle along some bridges, but to speed it up, have a Pokemon with the ability Flame Body or Magma Armor in the first slot. This will cut the cycles needed to hatch in half, thus making you able to hatch twice as many Eggs in the same time.

Shiny Pokemon And How To Catch Them

By Carl00456

Let’s face it. The chances of even seeing a shiny Pokemon are extremely low. I have been searching over all of the regions and it’s been a tiring journey. I spent countless hours soft resetting, breeding Pokemon and searching on the GTS, yet I still do not have a shiny Pokémon. All in all, I have actually spent around four hundred hours. I’ll tell you some tips for getting shiny Pokemon, however, you will have to devote most of your time to trying to get one and it will be a long and lethargic journey.

Firstly is the egg method. All you need is one Pokemon from one country and another from a different country. For example, you need a male Pikachu from America and a female Pikachu from Japan. You could always get a ditto from another place as this will save you heaps of time. Just look on the GTS or obtain a special one within certain games. Once you have your Pokemon, put them in the Day-Care Centre. I recommend using a bike instead of running and finding a long, straight route that you can cycle up and down without bumping into anything. Wait a while and an egg should appear. Collect the egg and cycle like crazy until it hatches and pray that it’s shiny. If you have a Pokemon that has the ability magma armour, out it to the front of your party as it will reduce the amount of time until the egg hatches.

Soft resetting is the easiest way to get a shiny Pokemon. Just stand in front of the Pokemon (One that you can encounter, like Lugia or Giratina or a starter Pokemon) and save. When you have saved, battle the Pokemon. If it’s not shiny then reset your game by pressing L + R + Start + Select. This will quickly reset the game back to the menu so you don’t need to waste any time turning the power off and on. Just keep repeating the process until you get a shiny Pokemon.

Pokemon Power Complex

By Matt

What is a power complex? Yes, it’s something I made up. But it can be applied in Pokemon almost all the time. Defining a power complex is simple: it is a desire for power; much like a God complex is a desire to become God. We know about this because of how many want legendary Pokemon either in the game or in their teams, and do not pay any attention to certain kinds of moves in battles, relying on the strongest ones (like Hyper Beam or Giga Impact).

Of course, a solid set of stats are good, but having the right moves are even better. Even I went through this once, voluntarily removing all the status and stat-changing moves, thinking they would do no good. However, once I got the chance to learn more about the various kinds of status conditions, I learned that incorporating status moves into a moveset will be very beneficial.

If you’ve been to the Battle Subway, Tower, etc., you will see that the farther in you progress, the more strategic your opponents will become. This is because brute force will simply not be enough to win a battle. One must use strategy, which is why status moves were created. A classic example is using Toxic, and immediately using Protect the next turn, thus slowly defeating one’s opponent.

Hacked Pokemon

By Matt

Although hacking is seen to be as unfair by many, there’s always a way to get Pokemon (or other items), even though it seems impossible. We can thank (or curse) Action Replays for this. I’m just generalizing, since I don’t know how to hack, but one of my friends taught me about hacked Pokemon.

The first sign it is hacked is if it is shiny. Legends never appear in shiny form (Phione is maybe one of the only legends that can be legitimately shiny, because when you breed Manaphy, you will get it). The location can be different from where it was originally placed in the game. For example, Zekrom and Reshiram, depending on the game, were encountered at N’s Castle (or Dragonspiral Tower) at Level 50. Since you are given the freedom (I believe) to set the location and the level, one can distinguish this. However, imported Pokemon are a much tougher case, seeing as only the region of the game it came from is displayed.

Those Mysterious Pokemon Eggs

By Matt

Eggs in the Pokemon World are a mystery. Of course, this is just the child’s way of the birds and the bees. One real mystery is that the child becomes 100% of one of the parents. Anyway, let’s start with the basics. Eggs are obtained primarily through the Day Care. If you leave two of your Pokemon which are different genders, they will most likely produce an egg. There are some exceptions, like legendaries and some Metal-type Pokemon, which would be very unrealistic if they could create offspring. In addition to leveling, they will produce eggs depending on how the Day-Care Man says they are doing. The levels range from getting along very well to playing separately (not breeding). In Pokemon Black and White, you will be called by the Day-Care Man when he gets an egg. Other versions like HeartGold and SoulSilver have the Day-Care Man call you regarding the egg. When you get an Egg, there are three stages: not close to hatching, semi-close to hatching, and very close to hatching. The kind of offspring will determine the steps taken, and the progress.

Serperior Team Guide

By Jacob

How to create an Ultimate Pokemon team – Using Serperior as your starter

With over 600 Pokemon to choose from, deciding on just six can be quite a daunting task; especially for a beginner. In order to make the best possible choices when deciding on which ones to take along on your journey, this guide will give helpful tips as well as ways to better your already selected party.

For many players, their starter Pokemon (such as Snivy, Oshawott, and Tepig in the new Unova region), is always an essential member to any ultimate Pokemon party. However, the use of certain multi-type starter Pokemon (Such as Blaziken and Emboar: being Fire and fighting types) can be a downside. While it may give them more advantages in battle, a fair majority of the time it makes Pokemon more susceptible to a quicker K.O. However weather or not to use such Pokemon is entirely up to you.

Now the best way to create a Pokemon party is to select one Pokemon and build a team around it. The easiest of which to do would be to start with any starter Pokemon. In honor of the release of the new Pokemon Black and White, I will be making teams around one of the final evolutions of the Unova starters (Serperior, Samurott, and Emboar).

Pokemon Event Celebi

By Matt

In March 2011, there was an event going on at all local GameStops. It was even broadcasted on TV that an Event Celebi would be given out for a short period of time before the release of Pokemon Black and White Versions. When you go to GameStop, you would select Mystery Gift and then Receive from Wireless. This would give you the pass to receive Celebi, which could be accessed when you talk to the deliveryman in any Poke Mart. This could be done for any versions compatible for the DS; this includes Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, and SoulSilver. If you got Celebi in HeartGold or SoulSilver, you could access a quick cutscene where you would travel in time with Celebi.

To do this, you would need to prepare your strongest team (just in case you were faced with a strong opponent). Then, go to the Ilex Forest with your Celebi as your lead Pokemon (it has to be walking behind you). When you got to the house-thing close to the entrance, your friend Lyra would come with her Marill. She would then ask how things have been, and accidentally be teleported back in time with you (and leaving her Marill behind!). After a short break, you would find yourself back three years, and in Team Rocket’s secret headquarters before you ruined their plans. There would be a member of Team Rocket in there, and challenge you to a Pokemon battle. When you won, the radio would sound out, calling for Team Rocket members. Celebi would then transport you to a different place. You would then find your rival battling Giovanni, head of Team Rocket, and win.

Guide to Shiny Pokemon Hunting: Soft Resetting

By Jo

In their efforts to find shiny Pokemon, shiny hunters have discovered a way of obtaining shiny Pokemon in nearly every game. The method? Soft resetting. So what is soft resetting, and how can it help you in getting a shiny Pokemon of your own? Let’s find out.

I know I tend to repeat this in all of my shiny hunting posts, but I can’t stress it enough: to hunt for shiny Pokemon, no matter the method that you’re using, you’re going to need a bit of time as well as a great deal of patience. Soft resetting is no exception to that rule. As time passes, you’ll begin to feel as if your search is fruitless and begin to doubt yourself, as well as become frustrated. If you keep to your search, it will eventually be worth it in the end.

Guide To Shiny Pokemon Hunting: Random Encounter

By Jo

Another post on shiny hunting – since there are so many different methods you could use in your quest to get your hands on a shiny Pokemon. This time we’ll be covering the not-so clean cut method of Random Encountering Pokemon in hopes of eventually finding a shiny. However, I’ve been told that this method isn’t nearly as reliable as the Masuda Method or the Poke Radar – you’ll understand why a bit later. Let’s just get started!

First of all, like any other shiny hunting method, this requires a great deal of patience. You’ll be spending hours in your search for a shiny, so don’t feel discouraged if you don’t find one right away. Next, you’ll want to make sure that you’ve got quite a bit of time to spend hunting without being interrupted, as well as making sure your bag is stacked up on all the necessary Pokeballs (and keep a few potions handy if you know that you’ll be hunting in a highly leveled patch of grass). Next, you’re to decide on where you want to start your hunt. Most hunters that try to random encounter for shinies try the darker patches of grass that send out two Pokes at once, just so that their odds are better.
