Unova Starters And Evolutions: The Tepig Line

By Jo

It’s small, masked, and sneezes hot embers. Tepig is beyond adorable and has an ambitious attitude that could make any trainer fall in love with it. Tepig is the Unova region’s fire-type starter – and the only ever fire-type starter where it or any of its evolutions’ names do not start with the letter ‘C’. It also has the lowest base stats of any fire-type starter.

Tepig’s name comes from the words “tepid” (meaning lukewarm) and “pig”, though many fans have remarked that its name seems like a play on “the pig”. Others just simply like to joke about Tepig being a fire-type pig Pokemon – Bacon, anyone? – and that it seems to be a bit ironic. Tepig has a very high health stat and its attack stat follows close behind, though it falls flat in every other area.

The Royal Unova In Black And White Version

By Matt

Located in Castelia City, the Royal Unova is a ship that will take you around some parts of Unova. However, this is an exclusive ship, as it leaves at various times only in the night, which are known to change for each season. The Royal Unova will be open for only three hours in the afternoon; otherwise, you will have to try again and board at a different time. The ship also charges 1,000 Poke dollars, but it’s nothing compared to the sights you can see once you board.

In Winter, you can board starting at 4pm; Autumn and Spring, 5pm, and Summer, 6pm. This is because in real life, the sun’s position changes depending on the season. In winter, the sun tends to set earlier because of Daylight Savings Time, causing the ship to leave earlier. In the summer, the sun is out the longest during the day, causing it to leave late.

Once you get on the Royal Unova, you can go out to the front of the ship and see the tour of all the places you will pass by, or you can go in the ship and battle various trainers. Although the trainers do not change that much when you return, the various items you can get for defeating them will change throughout the days of the week.

A Teenager’s View on Emolga

By Matt

Here’s the trend I’ve seen with Pokemon for each region: There’s always some sort of adorable, mouse Pokemon that draws many people’s attention. Kanto featured Pikachu, the character that started it all, and now is a household name. Johto had Pichu, which was figured out as the pre-evolution of Pikachu. Hoenn, the third region, had Plusle and Minun, the electric duo that would assist the other in battle (abilities are Plus and Minus, which both raise the power of the other’s moves). Sinnoh had Pachirisu, the Electric Squirrel Pokemon, which many found cute and lovable. Now, we’re at Unova, with Emolga, the flying Squirrel! When I first saw Emolga, I thought it was like a flying Pikachu.

A Teenager’s View On Quilava

By Matt

It would be really hard to guess someone’s favorite Pokemon, seeing as there are at least 500, including the new Unova region. The Pokemon I would like to share with you today is Quilava, also known as Magumarashi in the Japanese versions of Pokemon. It’s always been a favorite for me since childhood. There’s really no possible explanation I can offer. I remember when I first looked at that Quilava Pokemon card. It gave me some sort of feeling to hold on to it.

Exploring the Unova Region

By Anonymous

We have a beautiful new place to explore. The big and glorious Unova region. A question many of you may ask is ,’Where do I start?’. For those who do have this question on their minds, let me give you some ideas on what to do. While it may not be possible until you complete the whole game, It is still something to focus on during the adventure right? Right, okay where do we start?

Well here is an idea, why not complete the whole Pokedex? You heard right, The whole entire Pokedex of more than 500 Pokemon. “Now why on earth would I do that?’ you may be asking. My answer is, its fun and its not that difficult. Think about it, while running through the Unova region you encounter at least 90% of all of the new pokemon. Not to mention that its really easy to get the other 500+ over through the new Pokemon transfer system.
