Team Plasma

By Matt

While playing Pokemon Black and White, you are bound to come across Team Plasma. Although they sound very vague about what they want to accomplish, it is clear that they (obviously) are up to no good. When you approach the first town, you will find Team Plasma speaking to the crowd about “Liberating”Pokemon. They say that people make Pokemon suffer by using them to battle, which obviously baffles the crowd. Another point they make is that releasing Pokemon will free them from the “burdens”that the trainer has put on them. As usual, this is another vague announcement confuses the masses, while they leave to preach at another town. One could say they are some sort of group of prophets that want to spread a message before a true catastrophe happens.

A Teenager’s View On Minccino (Chillarmy)

By Matt

When I was browsing Hardrock-Pokemon, I came across a strange Pokemon called Chillarmy. It didn’t look bad when I first saw it; in fact, I thought it looked kind of nice. I forgot all about it until I came across it again. This time, it was in the wild, when I was training for the Nielbasa City Gym. It was somewhere in the 20s (level), so I decided to catch it: with the first Ultra Ball I had. Of course, it worked, and I kept it, but since my team had another powerful Normal-type (Audino and Stoutland), I couldn’t keep it.

This all changed when I looked at the Pokedex app (for the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad). It says that Cinccino (second stage of Minccino) has a strong base attack and speed, but weak defense and special defense. Compared to Audino, which doesn’t evolve, it is still not as strong in terms of defense, but I decided to replace it anyway. Training Minccino is a very grueling task: Since it is a basic Pokemon, it has very weak base stats. The only attacking move it had was Doubleslap, which was very ineffective.

A Teenager’s View On Cinccino

By Matt

Pokemon White Version has currently been bringing me a lot of surprises, especially with Minccino. Since I have limited knowledge of the fifth Generation Pokemon, I do not know which Pokemon evolve and which do not. In the Japanese versions of Pokemon, Cinccino is referred to as Chillaccino, which sounds like a type of coffee. Cinccino is a Scarf Pokemon because of the scarves that it appears to be wearing. Of course, it’s not a scarf, maybe just fur.

In the game, I have yet to evolve a Minccino into Cinccino. As a guy, I find Cinccino one of the few Pokemon that are really, really hot (serious). I find Cinccino sort of strange; this is one of the few Pokemon (maybe even the only one) that undergoes a one-letter name change. But I still love them, no matter what its name is; I can always just rename it. I find Cinccino so hot that I could talk all day about it, but explaining more about it would be a better choice for the audience (sighs of relief). Cinccino has a capability to learn more moves through TMs.

Pokemon Black & White Tips: Victini Beatstick

By: Brian Hsieh

Pokemon Black and White have reached the United States and have been around for over a week now. The Victini event is still in progress so be sure to get one through Nintendo wifi before it ends. While the gameplay has so many features that I could discuss, my main point will be about the Victini event.

Once you acquire the Liberty Pass found in the Pokecenter (a man in a bellhop uniform will give it to you), you’ll be able to use it when necessary. Once you enter Castelia City, which is right after you win the second badge, you can walk on the outskirts of the city to find the docks. On the farthest dock to the left, there is a boat that will take you to Liberty Island. Once you arrive, you’ll notice that Team Plasma has taken over the island.

Pokemon Trainer Zone

By Matt

When I got Pokemon White Version, I wanted to sign up for the Global Link. The site told me I had to create an account at the Pokemon Trainer’s Club. After I did, I searched around the site, looking for something to do. Although this site is kid-friendly, I didn’t mind it (being a kid at heart too) and decided to play a couple of games in the Fun Zone. The site tutorial told me that playing games earns Trainer Tokens, which can be used to spend on a number of items for your trainer sprite.

Watching episodes online (in the Animation section) can also earn Trainer Tokens. To curb the enthusiasm, however, the site only lets you earn fifteen every week, and it resets on Saturday. I don’t seem to mind, as the accessories in the store are very cheap, ranging from two to six tokens on average. For those that have been lifelong fans of the game, wallpapers are available for The site features a Pokemon TCG (Trading Card Game) part of the site filled with strategies for winning at the game, a list of all boosters released from EX Ruby and Sapphire, which was about six or seven years ago.

Pokemon: Changing Of The Seasons

By Jo

With so much hype over the new Pokemon Black and White games that will be released in a little less than a week’s time, I thought I’d cover a new feature that I’m pretty excited about – the changing of the seasons. Many have probably seen screen shots of snow and falling leaves, though, the appearance of the Unova region isn’t the only thing that’s changing each month.

In the original games, there was no sense of time. Days didn’t change into nights. Weather conditions didn’t become more extreme. There wasn’t a need for it, since Pokemon that evolve by those means didn’t exist yet. It wasn’t until Johto that time began to matter as Espeon and Umbreon were introduced in that generation. In the third generation, weather conditions like rain were made available in battle. And then in the forth, Pokemon became able to evolve at certain locations into Pokemon that they otherwise couldn’t. So now that seasons have been added, you can expect lots things having to do with them become regular game play with Black and White. Continue reading “Pokemon: Changing Of The Seasons”

All About Axew, Fraxure, and Haxorus Pokemon

By Emily

Axew, Fraxure, and Haxorus are the first of two Dragon-type evolutionary sets in the fifth generation. All are pure Dragon type, and have a very high attack stat in comparison to their other stats. Axew also has a major role in the Pokemon Black and White anime. The two possible in-game abilities of these Pokemon are Rivalry or Mold Breaker, but if one is obtained through the Dream World, it will have the new ability Unnerve. With Unnerve, opponent Pokemon will not be able to use their berries in battle. This might prove useful if the opponent develops a status condition or is hit by a super-effective attack, as they will not be able to recover or reduce the damage they take. All About Zoroark And Zorua Pokemon

By Emily

Zorua and Zoroark are two of the newest Pokemon from generation five, and are an incredibly unique pair. From abilities to attacks, these two bring many new aspects to the Pokemon Black and White games. These two were the main stars of the movie Zoroark – Master of Illusions, which has already aired in Japan and the United States. They are the only new characters to fully appear in the movie. They were also the first Pokemon of the newest generation to be officially revealed.

Illusion, the ability of both Zorua and Zoroark, makes them look like the last Pokemon in your party. Their attacks and such stay the same, but their appearance completely changes. With some luck, this ability can be of immense help in a battle against an in-game trainer since they may choose an attack that is not effective against the Dark type. But once these two receive a lot of damage, their Illusion ability will not work, so using them when they are at full health is the best idea. Continue reading “All About Zoroark And Zorua Pokemon”

Pokemon Black And White

By Anonymous

Everybody’s talking about the new pokemon game, “Black and White.” There is much hype about the new pokemon such as Zoroark, Reshiram, and Zekrom. But not everybody agrees with the newfangled creatures. Some say they’re poorly made, some say they are the best made generation. What do you think? Nintendo will be introducing a whopping 156 new pokemon! In the game you’ll be introduced to a new region call Unova. You also may know the starters of this game which are Tepig the firepig, Oshawott the water otter, and Snivy the grass snake. The new game will be announced in Early March.

Black And White Sampling Tour: International Centre

By Leo Du

On February 19, 2011, I attended Kid’s Fest at the International Centre.  There were demo versions of Pokemon Black and White being shown there which people can play.  Also, there were face painting stations and coloring stations.  The designs available at the face painting station were Victini and Pikachu.  I got a Victini on my face; I had to wait like 20 minutes for my turn.
