In The Shadow Of Zekrom! Summary And Review

By JC

Hey guys. I decided to check out the Pokemon anime by watching the first episode of the new Black and White season. I watched most of the original Kanto series and some of the Johto long time ago, but haven’t caught an episode until now. This episode introduces Ash Ketchum as he sets out with his mother and Professor Oak to the Unova region. As soon as they arrive, Ash’s number one buddy Pikachu is ambushed by Team Rocket. Shortly after, a mysterious dark cloud forms and reveals Zekrom. Zekrom unleashes lightning and Pikachu seems to behave like an electrical conductor.

The thunderstorm clears and everything and everyone seems fine. Professor Juniper, a Pokemon professor of Unova, appears and gives Ash and his party a ride to her research lab. On the way, we are treated to scenes of Unova Pokemon. At the lab, Professor Juniper runs some tests on Pikachu. While Pikachu is busy with some tests, Ash explores the rest of the lab. He runs into Trip, a brand new trainer, and watches him choose a starter Pokemon. Ash and Trip strike up a conversation and one thing leads to another and they have a Pokemon battle. The episode ends with Zekrom returning over the laboratory, leaving an ominous tone.

When the narrator introduced Ash as a 10-year old boy, I was intrigued and thought the new Pokemon Black and White series would be a reboot of the anime. However, we do see Pikachu and very early into the episode we realize it’s a continuation indeed. Am I the only one that thinks that it’s strange that Ash is 10 years old? I believe Black and White is the 14th season. My, oh my, young Ash has lived a very exciting life! I really would have enjoyed seeing an older Ash. It would be cool to see him pursue romantic interests and become more mature as he continues his quest to become the Pokemon Master.

Pokemon Movie Synopsis & Review part 2 – Mewtwo Strikes Back

By TokoyamiTheDark

Meanwhile, a Fearow with a camera films everything out, and a lady asks her master if she should send an invitation to Ash and the gang. Her master agrees, so she sends out her Dragonite who flies over the picnic table and hands out the invitation letter to Ash. He replies ‘YES’ then Dragonite picks up back the letter, then flies away, only to be stopped by Team Rocket with a frying pan. It drops the invitation letter and Team Rocket seems to want to go, too…

Ash and the gang arrives at Marina, only to find out that the ferry has been canceled due to a tremendous storm! Some trainers still insist on going when a blue-haired lady tells a legend ; tears of Pokemon would bring back to life people who died during the night of the storm. Even though some trainers are still insisting, the Officier Jenny tells them another bad thing ; Nurse Joy is missing since more than a month, and, as a result, the Pokemon Center has shut down! But still, 3 roughneck trainers decide to go to New Island using their Pokemon, Corey uses Pidgeot (and later re-appears with a Fearow, another movie mistake), Fergus rides on Gyarados while Neesha is carried by her Dewgong. Ash realizes he has no Pokemon who could do the job…until a mysterious Viking boat appears.

The Vikings carry Ash and the gang to New Island, but a wave splashes on them, and the Vikings turned out to be Team Rocket! Ash and Misty sends out Squirtle and Staryu for the rest of the trip to New Island, and does so by going underwater. After a while, they finally arrives at New Island…

Pokemon Ash Ketchum

By Anonymous

Pokemon is awesome and it always will be. Did you know that in the first games Red and Blue (Green if Japanese) the player you are is named Red. Did you know Red has an anime counterpart? His name is Ash, Ash Ketchum. In Pokemon episode one, Ash Ketchum has been on the screen.  And now the anime is in the six hundreds, Ash’s clothes and voice might have changed but he is still Ash! Ash grew up in Pallet Town, a small down in the Kanto region. This town also has Professor Samuel Oak’s Pokemon Laboratory. In there you can get a fire type Charmander, grass type Bulbasaur or water type Squirtle.

On Ash’s first day he overslept and wasn’t able to get one of the above starters. So Professor Oak gave Ash a Pikachu. This Pikachu is still wild at the time and shocks Ash and ignores him the entire time. Pikachu wouldn’t even battle for Ash at the start. Ash had to throw rocks at the Pokemon he wanted to capture. He agitated a Spearow and Ash basically just ran from them. Pikachu was injured and needed a Pokemon Center so he can be healed. Ash hurried and stole a bike from a girl named Misty. He came close and the bike slipped. Ash then stood up and was willing to take the hits to protect Pikachu, but Pikachu got up and ran to his shoulders and shocked all the Spearow, also destroying the bike. And that is basically the first episode of Pokemon.

Ash’s New Friends

By Carl00456

I didn’t like the character Cilan from the Pokemon Black and White anime at first, but he seems to have grown on me. His small eyes and green hair made me jump to conclusions and think he was going to be another Pokemon trainer that I wouldn’t care about, but his personality shines through and he is actually a great character in the new anime.

We are first introduced to him at his Pokemon Gym. He battles Ash with his Pokemon, Pansage, which I must say could not be a better match with his personality or appearance. He decides to travel with Ash, hoping to improve his job of looking at Pokemon’s relationships with their trainers. He appears to be one step ahead of Ash and Iris and is always ready to do things. I feel that he may be replacing Brock though as he’s got the whole ‘good at cooking food’ going on, which looks delicious by the way.

I like how Cilan always says things like ‘what a unique flavour’ when talking about the style of Pokemon battles. He’s not like normal Pokemon trainers. He makes me want to learn more about his history as he is really interesting to watch. His personality is awesome in my opinion as he seems so clever and out-going and fun, unlike Brock who didn’t really get involved in most things Ash did. He is dressed like a Pokemon butler or chef which is unusual but somehow suits him. Cilan Is always eager to join in Pokemon battles and helps out when he can, whether it’s cooking some Pokemon food or giving some well-needed advice to his friends Ash and Iris. I would really like to see this character develop, get stronger and catch more Pokemon as I can’t see any bad points about him, I mean, he’s not annoying like Iris can sometimes be. I think that Cilan is the best person who has travelled with Ash. I can’t wait to see what happens to him in the anime.

The Cute water Pokemon Buizel

By Stephanie Sartain

Buizel is my favorite water type from the Sinnoh region. It learns great moves like aqua jet and waterfall. It was also amazing as Ash’s Pokemon in the anime. Buizel mastered the special move ice aqua jet. This move required Buizel to be hit by an ice type move like ice beam or ice punch. Then he would plow forward and hit the opponent with his move combined with the ice. Buizel is a great Pokemon to have on your team. I used one in my Diamond game and it was amazing. I think that Buizel is one of the cutest water types.

Buizel eventually learned ice punch in the anime. I thought that was awesome. Buizel was also in a contest with Ash but lost. That was the first time in participated in a contest before. Dawn Buizel’s original trainer never got to use it in a contest before it was traded over to Ash. The trade was done because Ash’s Aipom liked contest while Dawn’s Buizel like Gym battles so they did a trade. Buizel had its first Gym battle at the Gym in Veilstone City where Buizel went up against Maylene’s Lucario. Buizel learned the move Water Pulse during the battle. The battle turned out in a draw and Buizel was upset. Later Buizel fought its evolved form at the Pastoria City Gym. Buizel was able to defeat it with it’s newly learned Water Pulse. Buizel fought many tough Pokemon but it usually won the battle. This is why I like Buizel so much no matter how tough the battle Buizel just keeps on fighting.

Ash Ketchum – The Worst Trainer?

By Carl00456

Ash seems like a good Pokemon trainer, however, you must not be fooled by his friendly appearance. What happens to most of his Pokemon at the end of each region? He sends them back to Professor Oak to be forgotten.

I feel sorry for all the Pokemon he’s ever had. Most of them get deceived by Ash’s personality and end up willing to do anything for him. Ash had a great Aipom but he treated it badly, and broke its heart. When Ash left for the Sinnoh region he left Aipom, only for it to come scurrying back in the first episode of the series. Aipom was a great member of the team. Ash did not see that. He was more interested in other Pokemon as he traded Aipom for Buizel.

Ash has had Pikachu for many years now but it looks like he is only getting weaker. Every new region Pikachu ends up getting quickly defeated by a starter Pokemon. What is Ash doing? I guess he’s lazy because Pikachu defeated a Darkrai pretty easily.

Pokemon Spell of the Unown Review

By Myntii

Warning: Contains many spoilers. Read at your own risk.

Spell of the Unown, known as Lord of the “Unknown” Tower in Japan, is a captivatingly beautiful masterpiece about a girl who just wants to be with her family. It was released in Japan on July 8, 2000 and debuted in North American theaters the following year on April 6. The movie opens with a heartwarming scene between Molly, a young girl and one of the main characters of the film, and her father reading a book about legendary Pokemon. Molly remarks that although Entei looks scary, he’s actually very powerful and protective, and thus reminds her of her father. Her father, Professor Spencer Hale, then picks her up and runs around the room, pretending to be Entei.

However, their time together is cut short as the professor receives a call from his colleague about the Unown, a species of legendary Pokemon that they have been researching, and rushes off. While researching a room covered in strange inscriptions, the professor mysteriously disappears and Molly is left alone, as her mother had disappeared prior to the start of the movie. She is left with a box filled with tiles that have the Unown engraved on them. Realizing that they look like letters, she spells out her name, along with the words ‘mama’ and ‘papa’, and then begins to cry, wishing that they were with her. Suddenly, the Unown appear and create a dream world, summoning Entei as her new father.

Ash’s Traveling Companions

By Jo

The Pokemon anime has been centered around Ash Ketchum from the very beginning. In his quest to become a Pokemon Master, he and his beloved Pikachu have traveled to many different regions and befriended trainers of all sorts. Though some of those trainers have been affected by Ash more than others, even to the point of where they’d decided to go off on their own adventures with him. They’ve stood by his side, aiding him in times of distress and have added to the plot of the show. Without them, the anime probably wouldn’t be where it is today – on its 14th season. Kanto Region Pokemon Part 1

By Amanda

Charmander is a fire type starter Pokemon, known as the lizard Pokemon, and known as Hitokage in Japan. It knows strong moves like dragon rage, and flamethrower. It can evolve into Charmeleon at level 16, and then into Charizard at level 36. In the anime, Ash caught a Charmander when it was abandoned by its trainer. When it evolved into Charmeleon, it started to disobey his orders, and continued to do so when it evolved into Charizard. It wasn’t till during his adventures in the Orange Islands when Ash gained Charizards trust, and became one of Ash’s loyal Pokemon he can trust.
